The directory lists the vassals that served in such posts as Oban (), Shoinban (), Koshogumi (), Shinban (), Gobankata () of Kojuningumi (), and the "Banshi ()" that served in such posts as Nandokata () and Koshimonokata () in the early Tokugawa regime. The oldest record dates back to the 12th year of Tensho (1584) and the latest one to the 2nd year of Bunsei (1819). All the officials during the period are listed in the chronological order of their dates of appointment with their personal background information and the amount of their fiefs. The directory, besides being one of the rare directories and biographies from the period, saves as excellent material for inquiry into the fundamental political structure of the Tokugawa regime.
The compiler of the directory, Magojuro Okano, with the fief yielding 1500 koku of rice, was promoted from the post of Nakaokuban () to a new post of Kojuningashira () on July 24th of the 3rd year of Bunrei (1820). On the 8th of preceding month, Okano contributed to the shogunate all the 393 volumes of "Gobankata Daidaiki" that he compiled and a completed catalogue to accompany them. He was rewarded with some gold and garments in the next month, on August 13th.
